Hygge - Put a positive spin on it
Did you know Denmark is reported to be one of the world’s happiest countries? It has a culture rooted in choices that bring true joy. Instead of focusing on buying more stuff, the Danish people focus on creating strong social ties and participating in charitable efforts.
They also practice hygge. Hygge is a Danish concept and value of warm, happy coziness and togetherness, which they make time for in everyday life. Like Minnesota, Denmark is known for short days and dark, cold nights in winter. They put a positive spin on it by creating joy and contentment in everyday moments.
Quarantining is like being in a long winter. How can we create moments of coziness or joy, even now?
My husband and I camped out in front of the fireplace this week. Something we haven’t done in years. Definitely cozy!
Even though it was tougher getting up off the floor than it used to be, it was still fun.
Whether you are alone or with someone else, how can you create moments of coziness & warmth or beauty in your own home right now?
Is there someone you can reach out to in you neighborhood and help?
So create a moment - light some candles, soak in a bubble bath or camp out in front of your fireplace. Enjoy hygge!
